When you took the battery cables loose you might have blown a fuse or relay.|||They wouldn%26#039;t, no relation. a stubbed toe is not responsible or connected to an ear ache.
check all fuses in fuse box or boxes or look in manual to find the location for fuses for these two units, they should be separate.
they could also be interrupted by a bad relay located in the the main fuse box, the manual is no help here. You%26#039;ll need a service from a tech|||When they changed the starter motor they didn%26#039;t disconnect the battery first.They shorted out the starter motor and blew some fuses.Don%26#039;t take it back,don%26#039;t ever go back.Sack that mechanic.Find a new mechanic(a good one).|||The mechanics or personnel who fitted the new starter motor might have disturbed some wiring.
if they refuse sue them|||maybe a fusible link or circuit breaker burnt or went off did you take off the battery power when you changed strter
