Changing Range Rover Classic Fuel Pump?

I think i am going to have to change the fuel pump on my RRC. I went to start it today after being off roading yesterday, it started first thing and then spluttered to a hault. I tried starting a good few times again, the starter motor was turning but i couldn't get it to fire up. There was NO smell of petrol and i couldn't hear the normal noise of the pump running. Do you think this is defo the problem? If so is the pump located in the tank??

Cheers

Martin

It could be the conection to the pump which gets disconected at times. You have a access panel to the top of the tank though the floor of the car take that off and see if you have power to the pump.

the fist time I've heard a 4x4 being used what it was designed for
oh dear; what series RR? what lump is in it? petrol or diesel...

if its a V8 any old electro mechanical pump will do. off a mini... or any british leyland scrapper.

the pump may pump, but eh inlet inductuion also sucks the fuel thru, so, after you bounced the hell out of it, youve probably clogged the fuel line with crap. remove it and blow the line clear with an airline. also, check the carbs...

if its injection engine... go see a landy specialist and take your wallet.
theres a couple of relays under the drivers seat, one of these runs the fuel pump, its normally these that pack up, try tapping them while someone cranks it.
